Indian change WazirX hit by $235 million hack, North Korea hyperlink suspected

Blockchain safety agency Cyvers Alert reported that the Indian change WazirX was exploited for round $235 million.

Cyvers said:

Our system has detected a number of suspicious transactions involving [WazirX’s] Protected Multisig pockets on the ETH community. A complete of $234.9M of your funds have been moved to a brand new tackle. Every transaction’s caller is funded by Twister Money.”

Blockchain analyst Lookonchain reported that the stolen property included 5.43 trillion SHIB tokens (price $102 million), 15,298 ETH (valued at $52.5 million), 20.5 million MATIC (price $11.24 million), 640.27 billion $PEPE (price $7.6 million), 5.79 million USDT, and 135 million GALA (price $3.5 million).

It added that the attacker was promoting and changing these property to ETH.

In a July 18 put up on X, the crypto buying and selling platform confirmed that one in all its multisig wallets skilled a safety breach that resulted in shedding an undisclosed sum.

The agency added:

“Our crew is actively investigating the incident. To make sure the security of your property, INR and crypto withdrawals shall be briefly paused.”

WazirX is likely one of the largest crypto buying and selling platforms in India.
